Benefits

Certification helps small, disadvantaged businesses compete in the marketplace and allows your company opportunities that would be otherwise unavailable.  As small businesses grow, so will our nation's economy.  Because most diverse businesses are small business, they aid in the economic recovery and sustainability of their communities.

A joint report from the U.S. Census Bureau and the Minority Business Development Agency (MBDA) shows that minority-owned businesses continue to outpace the growth of majority-owned firms. According to the report, the number of MBEs increased 39 percent between 2007 and 2012 (from 5.8 million to 8 million), or more than three times faster than population growth among minorities.

Want to do business with the federal government? Every year, the federal government purchases approximately $400 billion in goods and services from the private sector. When market research concludes that small businesses are available and able to perform the work or provide the products being procured by the government, those opportunities are “set-aside” exclusively for small business concerns. Small business set-asides are a powerful tool for helping small businesses compete for and win federal contracts.

Are you a woman-owned business and want to provide your services to large corporations? A woman-owned business can obtain a certification through an independent certifying agency such as WBENC (Women's Business Enterprise National Council).  Certification through WBENC can offer strategic partnerships with corporations eager to do business with diverse suppliers and vendors. Certification also gives your business recognition by thousands of major U.S. corporations and federal, state and local government entities specifically interested in partnering with WBEs (woman-owned business enterprises).
